Software Capitalization Analyst

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting, this person will participate in and support several key finance functions as it relates to capitalized software and documentation of internal accounting policies.


  • Manage execution of monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables primarily relating to capitalized software (journal entries, reconciliations, reports)
  • Prepare supporting schedules for financial statements
  • Provide analysis on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks) regarding capitalized software 
  • Review and approve all capitalized software memos by working closely with Project and Development Managers 
  • Create and retain evidence of successful internal control execution on a timely basis
  • Collaborate with Project and Development Managers to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls and provide support on special requests
  • Support the General Ledger team in maintaining the Company’s capitalized software policies 
  • Provide ongoing training on capitalized software policies and processes to Project and Development Managers
  • Maintain documentation of quality control for capitalized software and other areas
  • Primary interface with external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audit related to capitalized software 
  • Other miscellaneous projects as necessary
  • Assist in the research and preparation of technical summaries on new SEC Regulations and FASB Accounting Standards Updates related to capitalized software


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and professional certification (CPA)
  • Must have solid background in U.S. GAAP principles
  • 2 - 5 years of work experience 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Able to think clearly and reach well founded conclusions and articulate ideas crisply and concisely
  • Able to work under tight timelines and reprioritize work as needed
