Senior Accountant - SEC Reporting

Job Summary

Accountant will assist in the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and the rules and regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission. In addition to this, they will also be assisting in the preparation of SEC (10-K, 10-Q, 11-K, S filings) and other public filings, including the coordination and preparation of required disclosure information for 140+ business units world-wide. Finally, they will identifying and communicating to key stakeholders, the impacts of new or proposed accounting interpretations, pronouncements or other technical literature


Responsibilities

- Financial Reporting

  • Assist in preparation of XBRL-formatted documents for required SEC filings
  • Assist in the preparation of Quarterly and Annual Report to Shareholders, including coordination of footnote disclosures with independent accountants & outside counsel
  • Assist in delivering instructions for providing a timely and accurate external filing on a consistent basis.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality control reviews

- Technical Research

  • Stay current on new GAAP or newly relevant GAAP. Ensure timely documentation of key issues and relevance to AES for review and decision making by management / other relevant parties.
  • Assist in developing/maintaining adequate Sarbanes Oxley compliance process as it relates to required financial controls/disclosures

- Consolidations

  • Prepare monthly calculation of Non-GAAP measures.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and variance analysis

- Other

  • Review of Department of Commerce filings.
  • Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives


Qualifications

  • BS in Accounting
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • 3 to 6 years experience with public/private mix
  • Current relevant experience in preparation and review of SEC filings in multinational  environment
  • Large public accounting company experience
  • Exposure to complex technical accounting issues – impairments, defined benefit plans, discontinued operations, acquisition and divestiture accounting.
  • Big 4 accounting firm experience preferred
