Job Summary

The primary responsibilities of the Staff Accountant, Accounting Policy are to prepare assigned sections of the CFRs; assist with preparation/research of accounting and disclosure policies, as needed; administer and maintain the Combined Financial Report (CFR) Data Instructions Manual (DIM); assist with controls over the combined financial reporting (CoCFR) efforts; and assist with training on technical accounting related or other relevant topics, as needed.


  • Assist in the preparation of accounting policy related sections of the annual and quarterly CFRs as assigned, which include preparation/review for accurate, sufficient, transparent, and “plain English” disclosures. Prepare detailed supporting workpapers as part of the CFR documentation process.
  • Assist with internal accounting with technical accounting research relating to accounting policies, including newly issued/adopted accounting or regulatory guidance, “hot topic” accounting and industry issues, as well as SEC/FHFA-related questions.
  • Administer and maintain the DIM, which serves as an accounting policy guidance and instructions to enable the company provide the OF with consistent financial data/information for the CFRs. Manage internal coordination efforts with the appropriate OF Financial Reporting staff, in updating/maintaining DIM content.
  • Assist with CoCFR (internal Sarbanes-Oxley like process) efforts to ensure proper update and maintenance of all applicable CoCFR documentation. Also, working with the Manager, Accounting Policy, assist with the coordination efforts with Internal Audit to ensure timely testing of annual key controls.


  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Designation as a Certified Public Accountant is preferred, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Public Accounting and/or financial services experience preferred.
  • Technical and research skills, including knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting requirements, including experience with SEC rules and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of financial services or mortgage industries, including related rules and regulations, is preferred.
