Description:
The Director, Business Risk Management and Controls, will serve as a Risk Lead - planning, organizing, and driving risk and project execution for one or more internal clients, while guiding and directing junior team members. The Director will act as a liaison between audit, compliance, risk management, and other business areas on behalf of his or her clients. This position reports to a Director, Business Risk Management and Controls, and is located in northern Virginia.


Responsibilities:

  •  Provide thought leadership and creative insights to help identify, clarify, and resolve complex issues critical to our internal clients’ strategic and operational success.
  • Develop key hypotheses and insights; define and manage data collection initiatives, structure sophisticated analyses and manage interaction with internal clients to establish requirements and to ensure progress and completion.
  • Interpret results from multiple initiatives in the organization and translate these findings into clear and compelling recommendations and solutions; ensuring integration against project and organizational goals.
  •  Work closely with internal client team members to generate practical solutions and ensure clients assume the ownership required for successful implementation and ongoing maintenance.
  • Attract, retain, develop and motivate highly qualified staff in a matrix environment


Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience with relevant functional post-graduate work with a strategy, boutique, technology, or Big 4 consulting firm, or in an internal consulting capacity showing progressive advancement and a record of achievement
  • Bachelor’s degree (MBA or MS degree preferred)

  • Articulate analytical frameworks for how best to approach and decompose client problems
  •  Demonstrate professional, poised and confident oral communication skills
  • Storyboard and write executive-level presentations and communications

Data Gathering, Synthesizing, and Communicating

  •  Facilitate meetings and workshops
  • Synthesize information for client review and understanding
  •  Demonstrate effective client and team communications

Project Management and Domain Expertise

  • Plan and structure work for themselves and for his or her teams
  • Drive large-scale program implementations and change initiatives involving senior and executive leaders
  • Apply general controls and risk management practices in various business and technology domains

Financial Services Operations

  • Experienced in external regulatory review and examinations
  • Experienced in both internal and external audits, as well as interfacing with risk management, compliance, and legal teams
  • Previous consulting experience a requirement; top-tier consulting firm experience preferred
  • Previous employment with top-tier financial services firms a plus
